Cannabigerol or CBG is another up-and-coming cannabinoid that’s making name around the world. It has similar characteristics as CBD, but it’s not present as abundantly in hemp and cannabis. CBG is often referred to as the “mother of all cannabinoids,” because it’s the first one to form during the plant’s growth.

CBGA, the acidic form of CBG, converts to either THCA, CBDA, or CBCA. Whatever CBGA is left when the plant goes into the next growth stage is transformed into CBG during the decarboxylation or heating process that activates the compounds. The average hemp and cannabis extracts contain less than 1% CBG.

The limited amount of CBG makes research more difficult. Experts are aware that it has the potential to help with:

  1. Pain and inflammation
  2. Attention and focus
  3. Appetite
  4. Seizures
  5. Sleep
  6. Bacterial infections
  7. Skin conditions such as psoriasis
  8. Anxiety
