As mentioned, THC is the another widely studied cannabinoid. More people have been using THC legally for medical conditions than any other phytocannabinoid. The first known country to approve cannabis for medical use was Israel in the mid-1990s.
In the U.S., patients in select states have been using THC-potent cannabis since 1996. THC is the main compound found in cannabis. The phytochemical is found in hemp, but only in small amounts. Most plants contain less than 0.2%, which isn’t enough to produce a psychoactive response.
Cannabinoid research into THC is very promising for many conditions, including:
- Pain
- Inflammation
- Sleep
- Appetite
- Nausea
- Reduce/kill cancer cells (in animal studies, not human)
The reason why cannabinoids have such a broad reach across the body is because the endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a role throughout all the systems that operate the body.
